San Francisco Cable Car Centennial SILVER
I lived in the Avenues of San Francisco for 12 years. Even after moving to the North Bay and to where I reside now, San Francisco remains to be my stomping ground. How does the song go... 🎵 I left my heart in San Francisco.🎶
The Cable Car is the worldwide symbol of San Francisco. It is appropriate that the Centennial Silver Round was produced by The Railway & Locomotive Historical Society.

The obverse of this Centennial Silver Round the San Francisco Cable Car depicts a scene from the 1930s of the open-air cable car.
Cable cars were invented by Andrew Smith Hallidie in San Francisco in 1873. Hallidie's cable car system was based on early mining conveyance systems and dominated the city’s transit scene for more than 30 years. Hallidie's cable car system would survive the great San Francisco earthquake and fires of 1906, soldier on through two World Wars and outlast political attempts to remove the cars from city streets in the late 1940s and 1950s to become the worldwide symbol of San Francisco that it is today.
The Railway & Locomotive Historical Society, Inc., founded in 1921, is the oldest railroad history organization in North America, and among the first anywhere to pursue formal studies in the history of technology. The Society promotes research and encourages the preservation of documentation and photography of business history, finance, labor history, biography, and technology.<a href="http://www.rlhs.org/

Hahaha, absolutely, you may do that!!! In my college years, my friends and I would always do that... board and excited while the cable car is moving! And we prefer to stand and sort of hang on the seat posts with half of our bodies out of the car 🤣😂, taking in the cool crisp air of SF and breathtaking views. I love San Franciso❤️!

I grew up in Cincinnati, and we had cable car inclines on the steep hills, sad to say they are all gone!

Have you ever been to a restaurant where they have the trains running up at the ceiling....the large trains??
Cincinnati had/ has the Garden Railway Club, where outdoor train's run through garden landscaped layouts.
These layouts can be simple or extremely large and expensive.
We were members, and at Christmas time we all got together and put up displays at shopping malls, and the Cincinnati flower Conservatory, an all glass very large heated green house, for the public to come see and enjoy!
It was so much fun !!!😍
Oh wow... Nope, and this is my first time</em to hear abouy trains running up at the ceiling... that is incrediblr... like are the wheels like magnetic or something? oh yeah, the rail must enclose the train wheels to keep them up, maybe... that would be an absolutely amazing thing for me to see.
And goodness... so I found this in YouTube... oh wow... it is so amazing!😍😍😍 I am having fun now, hehehe.

Yes this is our old club, these layout run all year rain or snow!
Some of these trains are Germany LGB brand and can run 24 hours a day!
We actually had trains running so long they had to replace the metal wheels!
Crazy fun hobby, and some of the rare models are very expensive and are collected like coins!🤗👍
