US Mint Silver Mint - Early Production...#4

US Mint silver ingots are at the top of MANY lists. With such significant history behind the US Mint. It catapults the demand! Which finds strong premiums when it comes to pricing. .

Over the past few years I have been studying US Mint variations. As well, as the different types with in those variations. The San Francisco mint is seen more often than New York, and Philadelphia. Denver and New Orleans ingots hardly even exist. That story is ment for another time. Needless to say, I have spent majority of my time focusing on San Francisco ingots.

Today, I received a San Francisco mint ingot that I never thought would be possible. Majority of these ingots are in private collections. Others have been melted over the years during the high spikes in the price of silver. There is a very SMALL amount of them still "out in the wild." I am going to share some photos and details below.

☝️This SF style hallmark is known as a "Type 1". They are believed to have been produced in the late 1930s. Making them the earliest produced! The stand out factor with this ingot is the serial number. This is serial no. 4. Making this the number four ingot of the earliest produced San Francisco mint run! Obviously, there are only 9 ingots that have single digit serial numbers. What are the chances that they are still around after 80 years??? That's what is mind blowing...

☝️This is the most complete type 1 hallmark I have seen to date. Since the hallmarks were hand stamped. They are more often off center, weakly struck, and crooked. Check out the comparison photo below to see the differences.

☝️I noticed that the 999.5 purity fonts are different from eachother. The number 5 is seen in two different font styles. I need to do my homework on that!

In my eyes, the color and natural patina this ingot demonstrates is perfect. Silver ingots this old should show their age! Similar to the eye appeal and luster recognized in the coin industry.

I believe whole heartedly that US Mint ingots could be on display at museums all over the United States. .

Very interesting... I didn't know they even existed... I'm not sure why the San Francisco Mint would even make them...

San Fran, New York, and Philadelphia Mint all sold silver and gold ingots like this. Majority were made for industrial use. Many 100oz bars. The smaller ones caught on as collectibles. Cheers!

Too bad, they weren’t dated...

There are variations of all 3 that are dated.

Very interesting... What a Valuable Collection that would make...
