Research Development!
I posted a photo of an odd weight 1oz ingot yesterday on Steemit. It is not of any style I am familar with. Today I took some time send it around to some fellow collectors. I was actually able to identify It!
It is actually an old form of Portugese currency! Consisting of a mixed metal alloy. Roughly 65% silver. Along with Zinc, Copper, and small traces of gold. They were produced between 1834-1853. The M under the federal stamp signifies Maria III. The CA stands for Onca. Which represents the word ounce in Portuguese.
I found this to be a very neat and unique piece being this old. Sometimes you need to trust your gut and take on the challenge of doing research. It can pay off !

A unique odd weight 1oz silver ingot. Contents are roughly .900 silver with very small contents of gold. I am not sure what the stamps on this ingot represent. It will sure make for some good research though! In time, I will have an assay report done on this piece.

Now, look at those vintage bars, and the stamping done to it. Hmmmm... I wonder if they were random? I saw CA, and I immediately think it is California and the bar speaks to me.
