A touch of Art?
It's been interesting to watch the vintage silver ingot market develop over the years. Aside from the shifts in popular refiners. There has been strong developments in eye appeal. When people think of silver ingots. They often think of shinny bright silver. Possibly even a mirror like reflection..
That couldn't be any further from where this market is heading. Collectors/Buyers/Sellers are hunting the old, dark, and dirty silver. When that old/dark look is mixed with a strong pour. It can yield an incredible product. See for yourself..(I do not own this example.)

☝️A very rare 0 leading 5oz Engelhard Silver Ingot. These "starburst" cooling lines are vibrant due to the glowing patina.
This is where I believe art meets the vintage silver ingot market. As in unique art pieces have thier own style and feel. So do these rare ingots that demonstrate unique charactoristics. Now imagine a strong provenance attached to an ingot like this. How can you even place a value on it?? In my eyes, it is worth what someone is willing to pay. There is no way to accurately access the value.
As this market develops. I am excited to see where the future lies. Judging off of previous years and the growth we have seen. I am confident the strong appreciation will continue..

Thats a gorgeous bar.👍
👍
I would agree, most people are going to think of 'shiny' silver when you mention silver bars. What's funny is how attractive silver still is when it ages and becomes as you say 'dark' and 'dirty'! Silver just always looks great. It's like a fine wine and just gets better with age!
Then when you factor in something that is hand poured or handmade you now have a piece of art that is not unlike other fine antiques. It's going to be more sought after and appreciated.
As always, thanks for sharing @silveringots! Love that starburst example!
They all get better with age! Which is another reason this market has strong long term potential. Thanks @plaid
Beautiful example right there 🤩👍
It sure is!!
Always so Beautiful
That is really beautiful. I've never been that interested in bars for the reasons you said... I expect bright and shiny... but when they have this much character? That's something else entirely... something I'm definitely coveting! E x
