Gold Indian from a friend....

in #steemsilvergold5 years ago (edited)

Good morning my friends.....

Well it’s been a busy month already. It’s holiday crunch time for me. People want projects done before the holidays and they always wait till the last minute.

But I did manage to make a late night gold pick up on my way home.

I had a friend text me that he needed some quick money if I was interested. I happened to be working fairly close to where he lives so it was a no brainer for me. So after I called it quits for the day on the job around 9:30 pm. I made my way over, stopping at the ATM to get some loot as well.

My buddy’s been collecting for about as long as me, but has favored gold mostly. He has amassed quite a collection during that time. So what would he be offering tonight.....

Well he pulled out some wicked coins, but out of my price point. The ATM would only let me get $400, and that’s teally about what my limit should’ve been to spend anyway. He had an MS62 $10 gold Indian that I was drooling over, but the price tag was well more then I could afford or had on me.

After looking through his offerings, we settled on this piece. I do not currently have one of these in my collection and have had it on the short list for a while now. I have a few of these in the $2.50, but not in the $5.00 like this.

So here is my new addition to the collection....

I don’t know if my friend has this in a registry set or not so I had to black out the numbers.

It’s graded by NGC as an AU55, but dam I don’t see much wrong with this baby. I paid $420 for this coin. Here’s what NGC has it book at.

The 1909-D has just under 3.5 million struck, which is actually fairly low for these coins. The average mintage is about 10 million per. It’s a very early date, the Indians series started in1906. I’m very happy to have it in my collection.

Thank you for viewing.....

Thanks brother👍

That's an amazing coin my friend. I'm glad you could help out a friend and score a cool piece at the same time. Nicely done.

It is, I’m actually a little confused with the grade. Did a 30X loupe on it, don’t see much on the coin for the grade to be that low. It’s a beauty. He’s got quite s collection, this is a scrap piece for him.

It's a beautiful coin! Is it the angle of is the writing indented into the coin?

It’s an Incuse design, there is no raised features. That’s what makes the coin very hard grade wise.

I had to look that up to see what that meant! It's an interesting thing... incused coins...

Congratulations, bestie! I'd love to have an Indian Half Eagle... you got that at a price very close to an ungraded XF!!!! CONGRATULATIONS again for a great buy!

Thanks bestie. Yep, got a good deal, but compared to his collection mine is garbage....

You know what they say, bestie... there will always be a better stack and collection than one has. I love your stack and collection and look forward to your additions, and seeing those that you may have shown before I joined steemit. There is another fire 85 miles from here, and the smoke is all over, it looks like a foggy day where I live.

@silverd510 Nice coin. I am not trying to be your proofreader but the Indian Gold Coins started in 1908.
