Beautiful Coin, what is meant by high relief coin. Thanks mike
A high relief is a coin where the image is higher than the rim so it looks more 3 dimensional and is a lot harder to make than a traditional coin, cheers mate.
Well you learn something new everyday, thanks for your reply cheers mate
Stunning coin mate I like the old wedgies beautiful birds. :o)
They are a magnificent bird that's for sure, cheers bro.
That's a beautiful coin, it's gorgeous thanks for the info. 😁
It's pretty nice isn't it, thanks lyrica your welcome mate, cheers.
So, they want $499 AUD for a $8 AUD? It is a beautiful coin, but the price is too expensive.
It's just the face value not it's actual value, to be fair it's a small mintage at 2500 and is a high relief coin as well. The last circulating silver coin we had in Australia had a face value of 50 cents, it didn't circulate for very long because the price of silver went up. That same coin has a silver content that is now valued at $10. Cheers mate.
Its always astonishing to see what weird and ridiculous values they print on those coins. 8 Aus$ for 5 oz of silver... yeah, right.
But the most silly one I know so far is this:
1,50 Euro for 1 oz. Of course, 2 Euro would be way too much... :)
How about a $58,000,000 coin with a face value of $1,000,000!!!
1 tonne... that must be a bit heavy in the pocket. :)
2 or 3 years ago, a gang stole a 100kg gold maple leaf coin from a museum in Berlin. They got caught and are now in court - the coin was never found, though.
That was 1 million dollars as well (Can), and I guess they got even more than that on the black market. The gold value is 3,8 million or so.
Eagles are topical :-), Mint Canada :
They are a majestic beast, I think they are awesome, cheers mate.
