Mahatma Gandhi, An Immigrant: exhibition opens in Melbourne
Gandhi Exhibition is now open in Melbourne's Immigration Museum. The exhibition is curated by Birad Rajaram Yajnik and is digitally presented. Yajnik is in town to open the exhibit to the public. He told me how the exhibition has evoked emotional responses from audiences across the world. "In times like these when war and destruction is the norm, Gandhi's idealism inspires its audience. Weneed his idealism in today's leaders and youth for a better tomorrow," said Yajnik.
The exhibition is hoping to put the light on a man who started his political career as an immigrant in the UK and South Africa before returning back to India and waging a non-violent struggle against the British imperialists.
The exhibition has travelled to over 22 countries over the last few years with a permanent exhibit in Joburg in South Africa.
The exhibition is on till 15th July!
