The Gum Tree is never Black and White
I remembered Oodgeroo's Municipal Gum taking this photo. I repeat her assertion for my steemian friends who believe in reconciliation. I've always loved the idea of Australian urban spaces being decorated with Gum Trees. Like in Adelaide, as opposed to the Old Melbourne. Till I read Oodgeroo's Municipal Gum.
"Gumtree in the city street,
Hard bitumen around your feet,
Rather you should be
In the cool world of leafy forest halls
And wild bird calls"
The death of urban spaces one day will make her dream come true. Gum Trees will over take human inhabited areas reclaiming lost glory.
Nothing is forever, not even cities as we know it.
