Ranae Green: The Girl who love Tomato juice (Commission from Zehra)

Hello everyone, I wish you guys have a nice holiday (Im sorry for those who still need to work). So for today I would like to show you guys my process of commission works

Ok so my client is Zehra and he or she(I think it is she, based on how she text me) want me to draw him his OC. Fun Facts, this is my 2nd time taking commission from people and this is my first time getting request to draw their own character. There is that scared feeling inside me. In my mind, I always think about what will happen if I screwed his character with my drawing style(like how I do a lot in myt fanart OwO’’). So what I do is I pretend to be cool and replied his message in a professional ways.

So here is her character name Ranae Green. Well I think it is a pretty name for sure and the fact that she make her character simple really save my ass a lot XD. Tbh I realy love how she design the character, because nowadays people like to make their OC really decorative, instead of giving personality in their character. When I first see this character, I can already imagine that it really firs my style :D. So right after that I decided to take the job.

Creating Ranae Green

So first of all I really like to try out a lot of poses before I start my drawing. I came out with several poses. I do take reference from real picture, because in my drawing reference is a must! So most of the pose that I choose would be associated with sporty or muscular kind of girl. The reason I choose these theme because the original character was wearing tracksuit, so I figured out that I should come out with sporty or muscular kind of pose.

So usually what I do when taking commission, I want my client to choose the pose that they desired. She did take a while in choosing these pose. There is at time that I thought she might hate all the pose that I made, and im starting to cried from the inside qwq... But thank god, she replied to me and did choose the one that I circled.

So I came out with this concept, where a sporty girl who is having a healthy green life. I choose the Tomato juice because the colour is red, Red and green is a great complementary colour. It will surely made the illustration stand out more.

So the clean lineart does take a while. As you can see the lineart on the left is very thin. So I decided to add a bit of weight in my line art, just to make the character stand out more. If you can notice, the drink doesnt have thick lineart like what I did to the character.

Then the colouring part came across XD. For this one, just like my previous post, I didn’t use any blend tool or air brush in my shading. The result was like the second picture that has been showed. At this point im really glad that It came out pretty good :D. but just to give some depth in the character, I use 2 new layers and choose multiply and luminosity setting to darkened and lighten some part in the drawing.

At this point, you can just go back to your bed and sleep……………..HAHA just kidding,
But seriously when you are working on some illustration, you should give a break and chill for a while. Something that I learn from working nonstop is that your brain wont function normally after you’ve been sitting on your chair for 8 hours. It may sound common, but think about this, when you’ve been working for nonstop sometime you intend to finish your work fast and neglect the quality that you wish to put in the work. I bet everyone have that kind of feel when they work non-stop. So just take a rest for a while and cool your head a bit.

So For the drink, I did some research on the design and I came out with this. It is pretty simple yet very noice XD. And don’t forget to add the colour on the juice.I like drawing food and drinks, it makes me hungry like literally. Lastly add some finishing touches for the illustration and walla! Its done.
