The stone spheres in Costa Rica - antennas aliens?
Archeology he faced all puzzles. One of the largest, however, is in southern Costa Rica, where on earth are scattered hundreds smooth stone spheres, as if out of children's box with a collection of marbles. Those in Costa Rica are quite large and are unlikely to play. The largest of them have a diameter up to two meters and weigh 16 tons. Some of them lie on the ground while others were partially buried in it. The balls are immortalized in the iconic scene of the movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark" where a model of one of them in natural size nearly crushed Indiana Jones.
The stone balls are located mainly in the southern region of diacid Delta and Isla del Cano, about 30 km from the coast. Balls were found in other parts of Central America. Nowhere, however, they are not so many and such good quality as in Costa Rica, where about 300 in number. according to many
they are perfect as proportions and smoothness,
What makes the mystery surrounding their creation even more. Research scientists are also hampered by the fact that most of the balls are moved from their original places in the jungle where they were found. Therefore it is impossible to determine the length of time they were created. Who made these balls and what was their purpose? Both questions scientists can not give a definite answer. There are many different myths. According to one globes came from the lost continent of Atlantis, while others are the work of Mother Nature herself.
The first information about these balls appear at the end of the 19th century, but described scientifically only in the 30s of the last century, so it is considered a relatively new discovery. The most interesting and, of course, the most controversial theory is that the stone spheres were placed in special places by the Indians in an era long before the arrival of Christopher Columbus and served as transformers of the gods! And all other ancient monoliths, their function was
capture and set the running world power.
According to this thesis stone balls were something like tuning forks on the ground that vibrate and passed various frequencies that you were then captured by the aliens. I.e. stone balls were peculiar antennas as part of a receiver for communications aliens. Well, it is clear that the ancients had a wireless network.
Many other researchers stones had astronomical functions in prehistoric America and this is one of the most common these. Many of them are found in groups of up to 20 pieces, often arranged in geometric shapes like triangles, squares or straight lines. In many cases these figures pointing to magnetic north of the earth. Some say they even
Navigation markers were landing spacecraft.
Another very common and more accepted thesis is that these different sized stone balls were used as a symbol for the rank of a chief of a tribe or a village. They may have served as a religious or ceremonial symbols.
Researchers are united only on one issue - the balls are made by hand, which makes the achievement even more impressive. The most interesting is the version that ancient Indians held
special potion by which rock softening
Wael her in various forms. This theory is so intriguing that it worked Jose Davidovits of the French Institute for geopolymers. The thesis is not supported by any archaeological or geological evidence. Most balls are made of granodiorites - igneous rocks, similar in composition to granite. But no one has managed so far to demonstrate that it can influence it chemically to be formed.
Quarry for granodiorites, however, is in the Talamanca mountain range, about 80 km from the place where they were first discovered more balls. The transfer of blocks of stone Indians was difficult but not impossible task, as
they probably have shaped spheres of space to roll easier.
However, according to researchers to move each block have had quite large groups of men, and the Indians did not have much sophisticated tools. It is also interesting that not found any unfinished ball.
However, there remain questions how the balls were made and for what purpose. Some areas are so smooth and perfectly round, the Indians may have used a secret to us technology, example taken from aliens? Here, however, there is one problem - very few balls have been tested with modern instrumentation. When discovered in the last century, the biggest poluzariti the ground were weighed for just plumb and take a tour in a horizontal position, the diameter is calculated in a mathematical way. Other than the balls you are so damaged by climate change, it is difficult to understand how smooth was originally surface. All these arrangements, however, could not refute the fact that some of them retained by thick layers of earth are surprisingly round and smooth.
The stone spheres were first discovered in the 30s of last century, when the company United Fruit Company began clearing the jungle in the country to plant banana plantations. Workers pushed a sphere side by bulldozers and heavy machinery and lit dry grasses, such as damaged some of the balls. However, this trouble for areas not completed. Prospectors who believe in stories about hidden treasures began to drill holes in the fields and then
placed inside sticks with dynamite them bisected by explosion.
Several balls were damaged before the authorities to intervene. Some of them were later joined back and are now displayed at the National Museum of Costa Rica capital San Jose. Until their discovery majority of balls were guarded by layers of soil or thick vegetation in the jungle. But then they were exposed to sudden changes in temperature, sun and rain, and their smooth surface began to hurt.
The first scientific studies of the balls were made shortly after their discovery by Doris Stone, daughter of Executive Director of the United Fruit Company. They were published in 1943 in the journal "American antikuiti." Her research attracted the attention of scientist Samuel Kyrklund Lotrop from Harvard University. Together with his wife and team he organized an expedition to the southern part of Costa Rica and that he made some of the most detailed and extensive research on nearly 200 stone balls that is. Interesting stories include his wife Eleanor of experience there. "As the wife of a scientist who accompanied him everywhere, I have witnessed many unexpected discoveries. But nothing is more tickled the imagination of the amazing stone balls in Central America. Mysteries they pose,
can hinder even didactic skills of Sherlock Holmes "
she writes in his memoirs about the expedition in Costa Rica.
When excavations Lotrop identified five major groups of balls. Three of them appeared to be in their original positions. In each group there was a base line of 3, 4, or 5 domains. Other balls arranged side that shaped triangles. Archaeologist most logical explanation was that the configurations have astronomical or ritual functions.
Besides that measured more balls (albeit imperfect appliances) Lotrop classify them in the table and tried to find their age. He began to dig around them and discovered many pottery for dating balls. It is believed that they were made in the period from 200 BC to 1500 CE Most areas, however, seem to have been made in the period from 800 BC to 1200 CE It could be argued, though to their origin still argue that the cult of production of stone balls is quite late and probably continued in places until the 16th century, wrote Eleanor Lotrop.
Today the stone balls are used as decoration of important administrative buildings, schools, hospitals, mansions and exist in major museums in Costa Rica and Central America. But they never cease to tickle the imagination of explorers and travelers, because no one wants to accept that hundreds of stone balls are created and arranged on a huge territory, without any there were some very important or obscure reason in the past.
