I visited a botanical garden which is located inside the crater of an extinct volcano.
The volcano was so huge it contained a several acres of dessert like terrain. Once you were inside you didn’t really know you were inside something because it was so big! There were lots of dessert plants and I really enjoyed the different variety of plants I found there.

There were of course glowers, but not orchids which require more of a cool, wet or humid climate. These flowers were more adapted to the dessert and were thin.

These were lovely blooms in bright colors like white, red, pink and yellow.

There were also more typical dessert plants in the cacti’s family, which were very impressive to behold!

This thick growth was a rich green with thick plump parts he looked like they stored water well. They were quite tall over five feet.

There were also large barrel cactuses, which were a rich green with thick plump parts. I asked a lady to stand amongst them so you can appreciate their large size better. They were tall.

There was also this really tall “pole” cactus which was over six feet or two meters tall.

I enjoyed the unusual dessert type plants, they are different from the flowers I usually post, so I hope you enjoy them.

Those barrel cacti are cool looking. It’s funny that you got someone to pose in your picture for size perspective. That was a good idea and she looks like s good sport!
