Perhaps my favourite song of all time! Strange you think its obscure as I have heard it all my life. As a teenager i went through my dads record collection and found this song and cried as i heard it. Something about the sweetness of his voice with the personal truth of what he was saying really got me. Yes, still relevant today, but not just talking about tv now, but our whole obsession with documenting everything we do. The personal revolution will not be documented.

I actually thought a lot about changing that sentence! I’ve known the song for a while, but it was only about 8 years ago that I figured out who he was. I’ve known some people who’ve heard of him, but sense is that he’s relatively obscure. The song is probably more famous than he is. The relevance definitely holds up. I made a meme once that said “Maybe Gil Scott-Heron was only predicting twitter.” Only one of my Facebook friends got it! :)
