๐ฉ๐ฉWe LOVE talking about POOP!! ๐ฉ๐ฉ
Yes you read that correctly. ๐
In my free health and weightloss group this week, we've been talking about gut health and how important having a healthy gut is. We looked at 3 simple steps to start improving your gut health. We all had such a laugh talking poop that I thought I'd share it with all of you. Get involved people!!

You are not what you eat, you are what you digest.
These days many people have problems with digestion and this is for good reasons. In general, we eat too many processed foods, eat far too much meat, donยดt move enough or at all and are stressed for a good portion of our day. All of this can lead to digestive problems which are a root cause of many diseases and food intolerances.
Having problems with digestion is not something you should be ashamed of but something you should take seriously.
A change of lifestyle is the most efficient way to get your digestion back on track so you can absorb all the good nutrients of your food to get you feeling your best!
Things to look out for as tell tale sign that our digestion is out of whack
-Bloating
-Farting or in my house we call it popping! Malakai thinks it is hilarious to pop and run away leaving the smell behind him. ๐ท
-Constipation
-Diarrhea
What can you do to improve your gut?
STEP 1 - Track your Symptoms
If you suffer from any of the issues above, start a food diary TODAY!! Start to take notice of when these symptoms are better and worse and you will soon start to see a pattern. A correlation between what you eat and your symptoms. It could be something so simple that is creating these issues but you won't spot it unless you are listening to your body and taking notice of what you put in it. (Just as a heads up, the most common offenders are Diary, wheat and gluten.)
STEP 2 - Eat more Fibre
Another huge thing to look out for is how many times you poo! As baby's we poo every time we eat because we have a clean and clear digestive system. But as we get older and start filling our bodys with too much and processed foods, we slowly get backed up. Technically, if you eat 3 meals a day you should also poo 3 times day..are you? ๐๐
When me and Josh moved in together one day he turned and asked " Do you poo?"
I just laughed, "Of course I poo!" I replied but then I stopped and thought about it....when WAS the last time I pooed? I was pooing maybe once every other day. ๐
The average adult has between 6lb and 20 lbs of undigested waste in their body!! GROSS!!! Imagine that? All that gunk sitting there rotting and wreaking havoc in our body, leaking toxins into our body, making us lethargic, always sick with the flu and colds.
Do you think its time to get that poop moving?
First things first; look at your fibre intake as this should help start to move things along.
On average, most people in the UK get only around 18g of fibre a day. However, you really should aim for at least 30g a day. For children, it is recommended the average amount of dietary fibre per day should be: 2-5-year-olds: about 15g.
A great source of fibre is fruits and veggies !

STEP 3 - View your poop and take action!
In the nutrition world, us therapists regularly sit and discuss poo, nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. Our poo can tell us alot about ourselves. In fact, I think we all secretly enjoy it! lol๐
But it is time we all get comfortable talking poop too!
Start observing your poop and your kids poop if they are still young enough for you to check it out. What does it look like? Take note and take action if needs be.
There is a picture in the comments to use as a guide so you know what to look out for and what to do about your poop if its not so good.
Comment below and let me know if you are ready to start checking out your poo to help improve your guts! How many times a day are you going? Are you gonna start looking at how much fibre you get each day?
