After 6.5 years in the UK, I've finally achieved ILR status - WOOHOO!
Boy, it's been a LOONNNGGGG day! Travelled 1.5 hours to Cardiff by train and then had to wait over 3 hours at the Premium Visa Service Centre, submitting documents yada yada yada, for them to finally say this....
YOUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL
The very words I've been waiting to hear all day, woohoo! So after 6.5 years, having to do apply for a renewal of visa every 2.5 years, paying over £10K in visa fees, I can now say that I've finally achieved ILR status!
So to celebrate, I obviously had to have to big meal and a whole load of drinks, and so all I wanna do now is go to sleep! But of course, I couldn't do just that as I remembered that I needed to spend some time on my beloved STEEM!!!
More to come when I've sobered up, until then do send in your congratulatory messages! Cheerio and Gnite!
Lol so long? Congrats :)
I'm still waiting for the day when we don't need such long timespans to get stuff approved.
Too idealistic haha..
Hey @kevinwong! Yeah, when I first came to the UK, I was sponsored by an employer, and when I got married, I switched to a spouse visa without knowing that the counter would be reset to 0!!!! One needs to be in the UK for 5 years before getting ILR (PR). Damn...so had to pay more fees yet again.
Oh well, I guess I've got it now and should be thankful lah :) How are you doing BTW? Do you still keep in touch with Kean Nam and gang? Heard he's getting married, possibly in Spain somewhere this year?
Congratulation sis. Now you can be my tourist guide when I come to the UK. Hehehe
Thanks @fieza-hussin - sure, no problem! Bila datang visit? :)
