TV Show Recommendation: The Good Doctor

Hi everyone,
This is my first post here and I’m so excited to be part of this group especially since I can freely express my love for movies and tv shows here. I’d like to kick off with a personal recommendation; The Good Doctor.

The Good Doctor is an American medical tv show which is an adaptation of the Korean medical drama of the same name produced by Park Jae-bum in 2013. The show started running in 2017 and is one of the finest medical drama I have personally seen as a health science student.

It tells the story of a brilliant young surgeon who is also on the autism spectrum and suffers from Savant’s syndrome which grants him excellent memory and spatial skills. As a result, he is extremely talented in surgery and diagnosing patients with complicated medical conditions.

However, he is initially stigmatized by his colleagues, patients and society in general since their prejudiced notion of autistic people usually left him emotionally hurt, alone and a constant object of discriminatory and degrading treatment.

He embarks on an amazing journey of personal growth supported by his mentor from season 1 to the current season, 4 where he finds love and fulfillment at work with his exceptional abilities recognized.

You wouldn’t wanna miss this as a medical student or someone extremely interested in medical shows like Grey’s Anatomy or New Amsterdam. It’s an amazing, amazing tv show I’d recommend for everyone especially because it gives people a better perspective on autism too.!!!!
