Could Facebook EVER pull off paying people to post?

in #facebook7 years ago

Facebook are really quick and consistent in implementing other people's ideas from live streaming to stories. It made me wonder if Facebook would pay users for posting and if they would take a cryptocurrency route. As Steemit is growing very fast, I'm sure it would be on Facebook's radar and I'm intrigued to how Facebook would convince users their platform is better.

Do you guys think Facebook would pull that off?

It's hard to say. I think Twitter would be much more likely. The reason is that everything on Twitter is public and about retweeting and following and all that. It's very similar to Steem in some ways. Facebook is setup to be private with your friends' list etc. Reddit or Twitter could try, though it'd be at least a year or two before they do I'd say. They'd probably prefer to avoid it as they'll lose money if they do.

Those are good reasons and I can see Twitter potentially doing so however, Twitter is a based on sending short messages due to the text limit and that distinguishes it from steemit.

Very true. But it makes me wonder too.. since everything on Twitter is public..a new crypto could actually link itself to Twitter and reward Twitter users regardless of what the Twitter company wanted. A leach coin or Robin Hood coin lol.

I wouldn't spend my energy posting on Facebook even if they did pay me.

Why is that? I simply don't bother with Facebook because of Steemit :)

Too much censorship on Facebook, I don't like their attitude.

Not blockchain tech involved so no.

I don't think that will ever happen. On top of te fact that they work with the feds and second they just might be the world's biggest dealer of data about people behavior for profit why would they want to share any of that with the user? At least that's my take on your question.

Very true but if Facebook were pushed to a certain point, they might take actions that benefit the people. Even do that is very unlikely due to the amount of people on it.

You make a great point I didn't even think about the number of profiles. They already have it to where you can send people money what wouldn't surprise me is if they try to make a facebook coin to use on facebook but it would be some centralized bullshit coin which will fail in the end.

If they did I don't think the payout would be anywhere near as good as in this community.
