Selling my Meditation....
While I am on the street in the hot sun doing Tarot, sometimes there is little interest in this free service that I offer. For the most part, this makes sense to me, as Baby Boomers are still a numerous breed who flood the streets of tourist towns just to ignore anything that looks as if it may be "unofficial". My feelings are not hurt by this realization.
Instead, I will pick up my sketchbook and continue to work on whatever idea I had started. This is my meditation when dealing with dry periods. Nothing clears the head like giving a dead, white piece of paper some sort of "life".
For once, this practice lead to a sale that will help me sustain my endeavors. I was doing Tarot on the main drag in Leadville, CO and had just finished drawing this piece. A proprietor of a legitimate, local Irish Saloon walked by and fell in love with the drawing. He did not desire free Tarot readings, this man wanted some color!!!
This piece, which took a couple hours a day to do over a course of 2 weeks, sold to the man for $50 + a free breakfast at his Saloon. This artist has never been happier to be drawing on the streets in between "free" Tarot readings.
