Shaka's Travel Book - Ponta da Piedade, Lagos (Portugal)
The walking path along the Ponta de Piedade (Cliff of Piety) is one of the well visited highlights of the port city of Lagos. Walking along the 20 m high cliffs one can admire a landscape with imaginative rock formations, tunnels and gates, all formed by the relentless gnawing of the oncoming sea.
The trail begins at the car park in front of the Lagos lighthouse. From here, also a stairway leads down to a boat dock, from which numerous boat tours to the grottos take place every day. But I had decided to enjoy the view on foot from above.
Here some of the photographic impressions which I brought back from there:
The lighthouse of Lagos at which the walk begins. The path is mainly laid out as a wooden footbridge to protect the surrounding flora. In the foreground an agave so typical for the region.
Steady boat traffic brings the visitors there and back.
Like at the Cabo de São Vicente no fence to protect you from taking that one step too far.
I need to get some of that potion.

Wow, sehr stimmungsvolles Bild. Schöne Rottöne und das bei Gegenlicht. Sieht fast nach HDR aus :)
Ja, Lagos hat mir auch sehr gut gefallen. Recht touristisch zwar, aber dafür eben auch sehr unterhaltsam.
Wirklich schöne Bilder und beim nächsten Besuch empfehle ich eine Grotten Tour mit dem Boot, einmalige Fotomotive sind garantiert! 😎
Das hatte ich tatsächlich auch geplant. Nachdem mir aber ein Pärchen, welches ich in Lagos beim Abendessen getroffen hatte davon abgeraten hatte (unbequem, zu lang, zu voll das Boot...) und mich auch die unzähligen Stände mit den Bootstour-Anpreisern etwas skeptisch gemacht hatten, bin ich doch davon abgekommen. Aber tolle Fotomotive wären sich er dabei gewesen.

Thank you Terry! Not sure about the exact reason for this intense turquoise color, but I tend to believe it is what comes through from the colour of the seabed, after the absorption of the red tones. If it would be some sort of phytoplancton I guess the water would be somewhat turbid.
Next time tell me when you are in portugal :)
