Melnyky village is a picturesque Polissya village in Shatsk district, which is located in the north-western part of the Volyn region. Millers are located to the north of the township of Shatsk, at a distance of 8 kilometers.

From the history of the village.

The history of the origin of this settlement dates back to ancient times. There are two versions of the origin of the name of this village, both of which converge to the word "mill", which was the first building where it appeared.

1. According to the first version, the name went from the fact that people from the surrounding villages came to the wind mill to grind grain for flour. But then the question arises: where and why was the mill installed here? The answer is the second version of the origin of the name of our village.

2. They say that it was during the time of the West Ukrainian lands under Polish rule. About 35 kilometers from the village in neighboring Byelorussia, the Melnyky village already existed at that time; the owner was a wealthy miller who had three sons. One of them did not want to work and did not help his father. When he got married, his father did not want to keep his son's son and sent him with his wife on the river south of his village. Young people realized that they would have to survive on their own. A man, knowing only the work of a miller, decided to do it and do it. In the first place, he had to choose a place to build a mill. It was difficult to do, because everywhere there were very fenced areas. That's why it stopped here on the territory of the present village of Melnyky, at that time it was a dimly-lit open area with an area of approximately 10 square kilometers. Accordingly, there were conditions for the windmill. A young couple on a hill near the river Stan erected it. After some time, near the mill, 18 huts were built. This small settlement was called Melniki in honor of the village of its founders. The locals are divided into four cells, each of which has its own national names: Kotovitsk, Suburbs, Popovshchina, Olindri.

The mills are located between the lakes Pisochnoe, Krymno, Lakes and Karasinets. Lake Pisochnaya, which is located northwest of the village, received its name through the sand, which form a beautiful shore and clean sandy bottom without vegetation.

There were about 60 houses on the Kharomi farm. There were mostly people from Shatsk there. They were given land in this tract and they were forced to settle there. The fields were among the forest, in which the pines, birches, alders grew. There was almost no sickness. Fields were flax, hemp, rye, buckwheat, millet, planted potatoes. Each farm had a horse, cow, pig, sheep, chickens. To go swimming on the lake Krymne.

There were 4 families on the farm of Zamozhinky. People on the farm lived as on the island. Around were swamps and woods that were teeming with mosquitoes, snags. It was possible to get to the village only through the bridge that was laid in the marsh. There is a lake Moshno located near the farm. It received its name from the words "moss", "mosquito", because there are many insects (mosquitoes, mosquitoes). In swamps, cane, roam, sedge, mist, willow, alder, cranberry grows. And the farm was behind the lake so called his dipping. Each owner had a field, a forest, a swamp. To increase the area of arable land, people were forced to cut down the forest. In 1944 the Germans burned down the farm and people were forced to live in a forge. They were wintering in Melnik, built houses on a farm.

In 1957, they began to transport people to the village. The Pasternak family, although the house was built in the village, lived on a farm in a dugout until 1960. In the early 60's all the farmers were relocated to the village of Melnyky. Minutes where people lived, called the same as called farms.

In the village there was a school, built in the 20's.

Among the prominent personalities born in this locality, one can mention the Serzhii Nazarovich Zuritsy, who was born on December 17, 1956 in a family of collective farmers.
