August 11 -- Steemit Ramble #109 -- Curating Great Posts for You

Well, with such a busy weekend, I let my 1st Steemit birthday slip by last Saturday. It has been exactly a year since I joined Steemit and on Monday, I crossed the 1000 follower threshold so the two milestones came at a good time.

Thinking about the post in my last edition of the Ramble about how we tend to lose basic communication. I ran into a couple that I have been promising a visit to for months. I always seem to find something else I need to do and never get over there. So, I picked up the phone and let them know I’ll be dropping over for coffee. We had a great visit on their deck on the shores of Lake Ontario.
Onward to today’s rambling
The Millennials Are The Hardest Working Generation
I thought the title of this post was a joke, but, @winstonalden was totally serious as he relates his experiences with millennials. We really can’t judge a book by the cover.. Or in this case, the generation by a few that are noticed.
Photоs Of Lаssеn Vоlcаnic Nаtionаl Pаrk Thаt Lооk Likе Thеy’rе Takеn At Anоthеr Planеt
@nakedchef89 shares images from Lassen Volcanic National Park. It’s really hard to tell if the images are photos or paintings… amazing.
Melatonin (The Hormone of Youth)
@themoneyteam writes a detailed post on melatonin. While most of us know that melatonin is beneficial for improved sleep, it does have other effects on our health and wellbeing. It’s worth the read if you’re interested in what benefits your health or what to be careful of.
Tapping into useful ideas
As content creators we often find ourselves searching for inspiration and ideas to create with. @artguru writes some suggestions for finding that inspiration and making use of it.
Top Ten Leadership Characteristics
Some people have an innate ability to lead. Others need to work at learning how to lead. Every leader needs to develop the ability to lead effectively, so others want to follow and don’t just feel compelled to follow. @kristinaljfom shares the top ten leadership characteristics.
I SEE what you do
People watchers can often unnerve those who realize they are being watched but they serve an important role when they are able to share some of the insights they gain from watching people. @onetree shares her observations and reactions to different people as she observes them in their sometimes unguarded state.
Don’t just do publicity. Tell a story they can’t ignore
I serve as the public relations officer for the branch. It’s always a challenge to get the local media to take note of the stories we want to share with the community. It’s how we handle presenting those stories that makes the difference.
@bluestacks writes a brief post giving some ideas on how to present those stories if you want to get notice.
Wrap-up on Day 109
One thing I love about Steemit is that after sifting through the chaff, there is a wide variety of topics written on. When I look at the trending list, there seems to be a narrow variety. That is not reflective of the platform. Scratch the surface and go deeper.

Thanks so much for the mention and the write-up - and for introducing me to some other great writers.
I agree about the narrow range of topics on the trending list. Sometimes I wonder if I should try to write more "to market" but that's not really why I'm here!

I hope you are feeling better. I appreciate you collating worthy posts and presenting them here. A nice rest lakeside sounds fantastic, I need to get out to a beach somewhere before summer is over.
Thanks for the write-up...much appreciated!
