Update: Blue Jacarada Bonsai Seedlings
About 5 days ago, I wrote a post about Blue Jacarada seeds that I had planted that had sprouted in my bonsai nursery area on the front porch of my house. Even though it has only been 5 days, I feel the time has come for an update.
As you can see by the image above, the first leaves have appeared. And when I say first leaves, I mean the actual leaves at the top, not the dicotyledons. What is a dicotyledon, you ask? I am so glad you asked.
What many call the first 'true' leaves of the plant is the cotyledon. It serves the same purpose as the normal leaves, but it is the first leaves to come out of the seed pit when the seed germinates. You can see them as the large oval green structures on my photo above, beneath the first set of normal leaves appearing, Dicotyledon is the name given to the family of plants that have two cotyledons when they germinate. 'Di-' means 'two'. You do get monocotyledons that grow only one, mostly noticeably in grass blades.
So far, eight have successfully germinated. If you are struggling to find the eighth one in the photo above, there are 2 on the left, 1 on the right, and actually 5 in the center. Between the foremost one and the tall one behind it, there is a seedling breaking the soil at the base.
The Blue Jacaranda will be splendid as a forest, so I will most likely be keeping these together in this pot for 3 full seasons before I transfer them to a larger pot to create a forest effect.

I don't know if the rest of the guys do - I have no idea how Discord works and literally am still figuring out Steemit but I am sure that it is something that will be coming up within the next few weeks. I don't want to be an idiot here, but will Discord benefit us?
