The Steemit Curator - Making Sure We Retain Quality Posts

Yesterday someone asked me to explain what a Steemit Curator was. Since I still regard myself as a newbie, I'm still learning about the curation trail and curators myself.

The one valuable lesson I learnt is that they play an important role in keeping the voices, well words, of good quality writers read.

Do a little exercise. Go to Trending and Hot tags and look over some of those posts. What do you see? How many posts of value do you see there? And how many leave you wondering "How on earth did that earn $1290 in upvotes (fictitious example) and mine is only $0.03 after 90 votes?"

Those joyful characters have found a network or way to get massive upvotes regardless of the quality of their posts. So how does your post even stand a chance against the flood of needless posts?

Welcome the Curator. Curators have a special role that I envy and I hope to one day be one myself. They search out real quality posts that follow certain guidelines that ensure only the best and valuable posts are entered into a curation trail.

Let me share my first experience of this. Recently I wrote a post on adapting different forms of writing from one another, which you can find here.

The first curator who believed my post had the utmost value was @steemsearch who commented with the curator seal of approval. As soon as that happened I was inundated with massive votes thereafter. You see, huge amount of followers watch the curation trail for quality posts and then upvote to form part of the curation rewards at the end.

I was also upvoted for @curie by @randomwanderings where my post was entered into a Author Showcase.

Finally, it was placed on the Daily hit parade for newcomers by @arcange .

Another post that recently enjoyed huge success was my post about different type of publishers which became post of the day for both @adsactly and @teamsouthafrica .

Please don't get me wrong. I am not bragging. This is not pride. I simply want to show you type of posts that gets Curator attention. I want to stress the value of great quality posts, over simply posting to get a post in for the day and hope for the best.

AND ALSO TO THANK THE CURATORS FOR DOING AN AWESOME JOB IN VALUEING QUALITY POSTS.

So, instead of trying to push number of posts or to meet your daily quota, make it your quest to write such an awesome post that you get the attention of a Curator.

Curation is important because it gives hope to the quality writers on the Steemit. various groups and people, as you listed them in your post, will give tribute to the posts that are valuable and there are also other groups who will depreciate spam as well.
