Boxer Amir Khan's wife Faryal Makhdoom believes that Stay at home mums should get paid more a surgeon or a lawyer.
I am not here to doubt the difficulty of being a stay at home mum. But I find it repulsive that she believes motherhood needs to be justified by being paid. Surely being a father might be easier. But I have never heard anyone say that a father should be paid as much as a janitor. Most fathers get paid, but not for being a father.
When her husband is being your personal bodyguard does he get paid for one? When her husband lets you stay in his mansion does he get paid rent? NO. Can you imagine what would happen if someone's husband said something equally ridiculous. This is something that she said
"And I think that when you put it all together we should get paid more than like a surgeon or a lawyer, it adds up to £100,000 a year, more than that"
She is has a husband who fought in a blood sport for a living and bought those homes, and yet she is calling herself the CEO of the house. She even at one point of time tried to reveal the work she does as a stay at home mum, "laundry, cooking...". When she did that for herself did she expect others to pay for it?
And ultimately a woman who thinks she needs to get paid for taking care of her own children (when having them was a choice) is extremely pathetic.
