✅First you have to share your knowledge about swelling, it's type and pathophysiology. (Explain only 4 types no need for extensive knowledge)

Swelling is the accumulation of fluid in tissues. The main causes of this are inflammation, which is the accumulation of excess fluid in tissues due to obstruction of blood flow, or the body's lymphatic system not working properly.
Symptoms of swelling include swelling or enlargement of a body part, stretched and shiny skin, and a feeling of tightness or fullness. Other symptoms may include pain, stiffness, or limited range of motion in the affected area, dimpling of the skin after pressure, and rapid weight gain due to fluid retention.

Types of Swelling

Localized swelling

Localized swelling is swelling in a specific area of the body. It usually occurs due to injury, infection, or allergies, such as a sprained leg from a fall, swelling at the site of an insect bite, or swelling of just the eye due to an eye infection. Swelling can also occur in other parts of the body, including the wrists, knees, and ankles.

General swelling

General swelling refers to swelling caused by fluid retention in a part of the body, such as swollen feet or hands. It can also be abdominal swelling, which is caused by gas or indigestion. Swelling can be caused by a variety of things, such as overeating, high-fiber foods, infections, or certain illnesses.

Acute swelling

Acute swelling usually refers to swelling in a part of the body as a rapid response to an injury or other cause. It can be caused by an injury, such as swelling that occurs within 24 hours of an injury. It can also be a short-term condition, such as bloating due to excess gas or fluid in the abdomen. While this type of swelling is usually not a sign of a serious health problem, in some cases it may require urgent medical attention.

Chronic swelling

Chronic swelling is the accumulation of excess fluid in the body's tissues, usually affecting the feet, ankles, and lungs. It can be caused by various internal diseases, such as kidney or heart disease, which cause problems with the body's fluid control. Symptoms include a feeling of tightness in the skin, a feeling of heaviness in the affected area, and shortness of breath.

Pathophysiology

Pathophysiology is basically the study of how the body and its organs, cells, and tissues change as a result of a specific disease or injury. This study seeks to understand the causes and consequences of abnormalities in the body's normal functioning. It is a combination of two words: pathology and physiology. Simply put, it is a method of understanding the 'anatomy of disease' and the effect of disease on the body's functioning. It provides a strong foundation for the causes, processes, and treatments of disease, making it very important for medical science and nursing. Pathophysiology explains how a specific disease affects the cells and organs of the body, resulting in the specific symptoms and complications of the disease.

✅You have to find a patient with the symptom and share history of injury or illness. You can also share your history too if your suffer from any injury recently that is present with symptom of swelling.

Today in this post, I will share an experience of an accident that happened to my mother. About a year ago, my mother was on her way to her workplace. It was raining, and the roads were almost submerged in rainwater. Then, my mother could not see the drain below due to the rainwater while crossing the road and suddenly fell into the drain. This caused severe pain in her leg and she also sprained her leg. At first, her leg did not feel any pain, but as time went on, her leg started to feel severe pain and her ankle became quite swollen. It got to the point that she could not even stand up, let alone walk. After the injury, redness and warmth appeared around the ankle. Over time, the pain became more intense. Later, with physiotherapy management, rest, ice packs and bandages, the pain and swelling gradually started to subside. Alhamdulillah, now my mother's leg is completely fine.

✅It would be better if you treat the patient pain by performing or apply above given physiotherapy management, share videos or pictures while performing and then review after getting treatment. (Try to use 2 methods at least)

You should follow these physiotherapy rules after a sudden fall while walking and an ankle injury. The RICE protocol is the most effective of these which means rest, ice, compression and elevation. The RICE protocol is used for injuries like strains, sprains, any kind of swelling and inflammation.

Ice pack & Elevation

Ice

Icing is the most commonly used method to reduce pain, inflammation and swelling in the affected area. Applying an ice pack to the affected area within 24 hours is an effective method. This ice pack should be applied to the affected area for 15 minutes 2-3 times a day. It causes vasoconstriction of the blood vessels and helps reduce bleeding if there is an open wound.

Compression

A bandage is wrapped around the affected area to compress or wrap it tightly to reduce swelling. However, if the bandage is wrapped too tightly, there is a possibility of stopping the blood circulation in the affected area.

Elevation

Elevation plays a very important role in controlling the blood circulation in the affected area and other parts of the body. The elevation can be increased by keeping the affected area above the level of the heart, and as a result, the fluid accumulated in the affected area will gradually return to the body and the swelling will reduce.

Rest

If the affected joint or part is in the lower part of the body, then weight bearing should be avoided. If any part of the upper part of the body is affected, pressure or its use should be avoided. Because if the affected part is not given rest, its condition may worsen. Therefore, no such activity can be done that has the opposite effect on the affected area. Rest should be given as much as possible, as this can reduce the swelling within a few days.
You need to take mandatory rest for at least 3 to 4 days after the injury. If you use this physiotherapy regularly for a few days, then the swelling will start to decrease within 3-4 days and you will be able to walk normally within a few days.

Task 1 (1/1.5)You shared the great knowledge about swelling, its symptoms, and types. However, it would be better if you add the pathophysiology of swelling instead of explaining what is pathophysiology.
Task 2 (2.25/2.5)Yes, sudden twisting of the ankle can cause swelling and inflammation. You did right following the physiotherapy protocol for treatment of your mother swollen ankle. An ankle sprain can only be treated faster by following the RICE protocol. It would be better if you guess the type of swelling.
Task 3 (6/6)Yes, after an ankle sprain, you have to follow the RICE protocol to relieve pain, reduce swelling and improve ROM. Rest is the much-needed thing after an ankle sprain; immediate icing can reduce the internal bleeding and prevent further swelling. I appreciate that you follow all the things, apply ice on swollen ankle and then keep the foot elevated.
