Harley you're missing a fundamental point. The nation state is a criminal operation by design.
Any organization that thinks it has the right to rob citizens and call it taxation is a criminal organization.

Do you live off the grid? Will you refuse to let the fire department extinguish your burning house? Will you stop the police from protecting your family, walk and drive only on unpaved dirt that you own? Great! I admire you for having the courage of your convictions. If not then you aren't owning up to the basic things taxes pay for.
Of course there are things that our government - from local to state, to federal - does that I think are stupid and criminal. But doesn't mean that taxation is inherently wrong. There's so much in our government that's structurally wrong, badly designed, disenfranchising of large swathes of the population. For example, Citizen's United was a key to unlimited anonymous campaign funding. This allows the Koch Brothers or anyone else with vast sums of money to own the politicians. Let's start with that before we criticize a system intended (yes, with huge waste) to pay for services and goods that benefit society.
And by the way - this thing called the internet that you and I are using - was built off of the technology paid for by DARPA. That's a tax funded part of the Defense Department. So again, if you want to be consistent with your belief system you'd better get back to farming your 40 acres so you don't have to use anything that criminal taxes have funded.
Last thing: if you come to New York City the first beer is on me. This ain't personal. ;)
