Medicine (Original Poetry)
The courage that I need comes in pill form
The resilience that I need comes in a bottle
My iron and steel comes from a needle
It wouldn’t be the first time
I need something flowing through my bloodstream
To change my chemical composition
Because whatever is already in there
Clearly isn’t working
I’m giving myself over to drastic action
It’s something that I feel I have to do
To become the man that you deserve
Even though you’re not here
I’ll take my medicine with good intentions
With a healthy dose of optimism
With an equally healthy dose of pessimism
Just to prepare myself
I have to rekindle that fire
But it won’t catch without accelerant
My medicine might send me up in flames
Or maybe it will be you
