Knowledge Bombs #1 - Dr. Jordan B. Peterson

Jordan Peterson is a professor of psychology at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada. Dr. Peterson has found himself involved in a storm of controversy in the last year or so because of his stance on refusing to bow at the altar of political correctness which would require him to address people by any number of made up gender identities.

Here is Jordan Peterson's knowledge bomb.

“If you can't understand why someone is doing something, look at the consequences of their actions, whatever they might be, >and then infer the motivations from their consequences.

For example, if someone is making everyone around them miserable and you'd like to know why, their motive may simply be >to make everyone around them miserable including themselves.”

We all know somebody that takes great pride in being miserable. They complain about everything, blame everyone else for their failings, and are just a drain when we are around them. Jordan Peterson's quote explains perfectly why this might be. Some people just want everyone to be as miserable as they are, and want us to fail like they have failed.

The best response when dealing with someone like this is to cut them out of your life as much as possible. It's hard enough in life to put one foot in front of the other and make our own way. It's even more difficult when we associate with people that want us to be miserable like they are.

So the next time that someone behaves in a way that you can't quite understand, take a look at the consequences of their actions, and maybe buried there in the consequences you will find their motivations.
