Sky Lantern Releasing in Pingxi
Many people come to Shifen for the sole purpose of experiencing the sky lantern releasing up into the sky.
In time pass, the sky lanterns were released by brave villages as they were the ones who stayed behind when everyone were ransacked by the outlaws. The action was to signal the fellow villagers that it was safe for them to return in safety.
But today, people release lanterns to make well wishes, to have their hopes and dreams come true.
This is done right along the train tracks that run through the Shifen town.
On both sides are lined with stores for you to guy lanterns and pick your colors and write your wishes.
This is really fun.
