Julia Child Wine Temperature @senseicat
Champagne being the exception since sugar is added to it to create bubbles, great wines are unadulterated, fermented juice from the pressing of one specific grape that originates in one vineyard.
The quality of wine is due to the variation of grape, region it is grown, and climate in the particular year that it was grown.
The best wines contain no preservatives and should be laid down in a dark place at around 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
If you keep the bottle upright, the cork will dry out and air will enter, spoiling the wine.
Red wines should be stored at room temperature at around 65 degrees Fahrenheit. To warm a wine from the cellar, place it at room temperature for 4 hours before serving. It is always better to serve a little colder and let it warm naturally in the glass.
White wines, roses, and champagnes are best served chilled. The best rule of thumb is the sweeter the wine, the colder it should be.
