Sri Lanka Buddhist stupasteemCreated with Sketch.

Greetings, @xpilar This is my third winning entry into the competition, which offers a free 30% winning chance to three lucky winners each day. Although everyone thinks that the number nine is unlucky, I chose it as my lucky number. But I'm happy to report that it brings me luck.

Sri Lanka is a Buddhist country, so we can find stupas everywhere in the country. Stupas, also known as dagebas and cetiyas, are regarded as one of Sri Lanka's most notable examples of pre-colonial architecture. In Sri Lanka, the discipline of architecture underwent a number of changes as a result of Buddhism. Among these modifications, the stupa commands a prominent position.

Building a stupa is seen as an extremely meritorious endeavor. The stupa houses the remains of Buddha and other distinguished monks and is also regarded as a center for the dissemination of Buddha's wisdom and knowledge. The stupa has a consistent design as it was constructed over time. The stupa's entrance is often located outside of the structure. To hold Buddha relics in the stupa's center, a doorway was built outside the structure. Typically, lime plaster is painted on top of or covered over the stupa. Along with the lime, other ingredients like clay, sand, pebbles, crushed seashells, sugar syrup, egg white, and coconut oil are also used.

The construction of Sri Lanka's stupas is said to have started when King Devenampiya Tissa of Anuradhapura introduced Buddhism. The earliest stupa ever constructed is called Thuparamaya, and it is situated in Sri Lanka's Mahamewna Park in the city of Anuradhapura. Later, numerous stupas were built, the greatest one to date being Jetavanaramaya in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka.

The stupa, which was constructed in reverence of Load Buddha, is an essential component of each Buddhist temple. Therefore, in Sri Lanka, we can find stupas in each and every temple. Today, I am entering a stupa that I captured on camera with my iPhone for this competition.
