One of the most memorable incidents in my school career.

The Education Department advised all schools to hold their Sports meet during the first school term. As a result, each school aimed to finish them by the end of March. Our principal arranged every sports meet in March, as customary at my school.

I was a good athlete in my school days and participated in 200 meters, and 100 meters, and throwing the javelin. In addition, I participated in 100X4, and 200x4 events. We can participate in any additional events organized by the Sports Committee. Our sports committee organized the 'Three-leg race' (Thunpa Diveeme) competition. Every year, I participate in that event, and this year I have decided to do the same. This happened when someone connected my right leg to my partner's left leg. Then we must run quickly to obtain the position. My partner, Fatima from my house, was the same age. We practiced several days before the sports meet to improve our running.

The sports meet date arrived, and we participated in the race. We both began running as soon as the gun was fired, but unfortunately, we couldn't run 50 meters; we were both dragged to the ground after breaking the cloth strap that tied our legs. We were badly damaged because we both dragged while running fast. My friend's leg was broken, and my shoulder was damaged. Because our parents were there to visit our sports meet, the teachers sent us home with them.

My parents took me to Sinhala Veda Mahaththaya (Sinhala Doctor) for Ayurvedic medicine. I couldn't attend school for about two weeks because I was undergoing medical treatment. My friend suffered more than I did because she sprained her ankle. Therefore, she was unable to attend school for about a month.

After that, our sports committee removed the event from the event list.

I was delighted when I remembered those unforgettable school experiences. This is just one incident, but there have been many others in our school career.
