Hello, dear friends. Due to a lack of time, I was unable to share a blog with you over the past two days. As a result, I didn't make the rest of my trip to the Central Province. As I mentioned in my previous blog, we left the Sri Dalada Maligawa to travel to the Nelligala Viharaya, which was our next stop.

Nelliglala Viharaya is a modern Buddhist temple located in Kandy's Muruthalawa village. It is situated at the top of the Nelligala mountain, the site is popular among sightseers and tourists due to its beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Both Buddhists and followers of other religions go there. Construction of Nelligala temple started in 2015 under the guidance of Wathukumbure Dharmarathne Thera.

When we reached the peak of the mountain, we had a unique sense of freedom. We were always searching for methods to restore our minds as we thought about how to give up a hectic living. The Nelligala temple's buildings were beautifully crafted and had high architectural merit. Our minds are soothed by the beautiful display of the golden Buddha statue, the bow tree in the golden bowl, and the golden stupa, all of which contrast with the deep blue sky. The remarkable aspect of the temple was the Mahayana Buddha statue. We could view the Hanthana, Knuckles, Aludeniya, and Piduruthalagala mountains from the peak. Seegiriya and Sripada Mountain are hidden by the mist on the opposite side.

It was stunning to see the statue of Load Sumana Saman riding a white elephant descended from the skies toward Sripada Mountain. It was a huge challenge for us to leave the place because we went there around 5.30 p.m. However, because we had to go to Pilimathalawa Ranawana Purana Viharaya, we left the Nelligala temple at 6.30 p.m.

Our journey to the Ranawana Viharaya had to be canceled by the organizer because it was already dark when we got there. Then, around 10:30 at night, we returned home. It was a well-organized tour that was both immensely fun and beneficial.

Hope you all had a good time on my trip to the Central Province. I appreciate you all taking the time to read, like, and comment on my post.

Have a good day.

Even though I visited Kandy couple of times this year, I couldn't make it to Nelligala temple. Hope that I could visit there next time!

Yes, don't miss it.
