Knowledge is a subject that is rapidly developing in today's technologically advanced and civilized world. Human communication has undoubtedly advanced by creating new avenues. The Internet is one of the most significant tools the world has been given thanks to the advancement of communication and information technology. Because of this rapidly changing technology, our children are developing into active Internet users.
The Internet connects modern kids to new technology, which has several advantages including fostering modern knowledge and skills, streamlining communication duties, fostering global relations, etc. Today, the Internet and the younger generation are connected like trees and bark. Unfortunately, the current generation of kids still waves their hands in the direction of devastation when using the internet connection. The modern child who accesses the Internet via a smartphone or laptop lives there and is dependent on it. Even while the intelligent child who is born in this way is fed with all of the modern information, the relationship between parents and adults is deteriorating as they try to live in their intelligent worlds. Because of this, today's youth is frequently exposed to numerous experiments, addictions, sexual abuse, theft, mental alterations, etc.
Today's Sri Lankan culture has transformed into a place where children can freely use social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Instagram, etc. Nowadays, even young children own smartphones. In such a situation, the current child is always in danger of being destroyed. According to this, as internet abuse increases daily, youngsters are turning to a variety of addictions like drugs, alcohol, and other substances as well as diverse experiments. Due to the detrimental impacts of the Internet, children's minds are being perverted, and a new social structure is evolving in which they do not recognize their parents.
Since technology is growing, internet issues are getting worse and worse. Because there is no long-term solution, today's kids are the ones who pursue new technologies. Keeping a child away from the internet is not a good idea. Children should be allowed to explore this new technology and broaden their knowledge. However, we have to guide the child in the appropriate direction. Even if kids know how to use the internet, we still need to teach them how to do so securely. Parents frequently pay attention to their children and are eager to develop positive attitudes and virtues in their children, allowing them to interact with new technology and maintaining strong relationships with them.
