Gossip... Gossip...

People all over the world are addicted to gossip not only that, people enjoy gossiping. They wake up to find others' gossiping. What exactly is this gossip? Gossip is information shared about an absent third party. Gossip is usually negative in nature. If the information shared is positive, it is labeled as praise or envy. Typically, gossip centered on a person's appearance, personal achievements, or personal behaviors. Gossip is mostly spread via social media.

Some people spread rumors in order to exact revenge. Some people have a habit of gossiping. While others do it as a hobby. Some people gossip because they know other people's secrets and because it gives them power. Gossip possesses immense power.

On the other hand, gossip occurs naturally and almost unconsciously to break up the monotony of routine activities or to encourage conversations. Social media is an excellent medium for gossip. Gossip on social media is more dangerous because negative information is accepted by a large audience and remains visible for a long time.

Some argue that only women spread gossip, but both men and women spread gossip. In my office, there was a man whose main job was to create and spread gossip rather than women. We called him 'Cheeththe'.

If gossip is not controlled, it causes problems in the workplace and other social groups. However, focusing on the negative aspects of gossip prevents us from appreciating the many positive aspects.

Gossip has emerged as one of the most important mechanisms for social group bonding. Secret gossip is usually shared with trusted parties. Shared secrets have a way of connecting people.

The person who does not engage in office gossip is always an outsider, neither trusted nor accepted by the group. Some truth is spread as gossip, with additional negative information for that gossip.

In my opinion, gossip is always harmful to the person or group because it always has a negative meaning.
