Ella Tour – Part 3

In my previous blog, I told you that we stop at the Demodara Railway Station which was our destination for the Railway journey. After dropping the Demodara Station we headed to visit the train loop which can be seen from the viewpoint behind the railway station. But if we climb the neighboring hill, we could see the loop from the observation point in considerably more detail. But the distance to get there is roughly 9 kilometers. So while sitting on the viewpoint behind Demodara railway station we visit it.

One unique feature of this Demodara Railway station is the spiral train line. This Demodara Loop is well-known as a "Demodara Railway Loop." The rail line passed under itself and moved around the loop and appeared the tunnel. The Demodara Loop goes from underneath the Demodara station. This loop's length is 900 meters, and the tunnels are 127 meters long. This Demodara Loop is known as the only spiral loop in the world with a railway station situated exactly over a tunnel and spiral loop.

It is said that the engineer who designed the railway line suddenly had the inspiration for this loop, when he noticed Kangany who was in charge of supervising the laborers, take off his ‘talappa” and tie it back around his head.

I suggest, If you have the time, planning a trip to this area to see this kind of historical site in our country.

As soon as we see our train come out of the tunnel and passed underneath the Demodara Railway Station, we get on our bus, which was parked near the station.

Then, we get on the bus and immediately drove to the Ella Deck Resort, where we were staying. My brother reserved the entire resort only for us because there were 20 people in our group. The location was on a mountain, and it was quite lovely. To get to the hotel, we had to climb 65 stairs on an iron stairway. The hotel's crew consisted of four people and assist us with transporting our bags and cooking items to the hotel. There were six large rooms, one of which had a sofa, two tables, a double bed, two single beds, and a tribal bed. There was also a dressing table, iron table, and cloth rack. The location is provided with every facility, including a television, hot water tap line, viewpoints, and a pool. The rooms were built in a variety of locations as two-story buildings because the location was on a mountain. The garden was also very beautiful. In addition to the location fees, we provided them with all the necessary cooking items and the cost of gas. Rs. 278.000.00 was paid for all expenses for two nights at the resort, including food and gas expenses. If not, we must each pay Rs. 9000.00 for one night of full board. As it is too high my brother had negotiated with them to supply all cooking items with charges for gas cylinders.

After drinking our evening tea, we shared the room family-wise. In the night after getting a shower and having our dinner, we went to bed to rest the day. I will tell you what happened next in my coming blog.
