A precious young boy's departure

This morning, I attended the funeral of one of my friends' 24-year-old son. He had admitted to the hospital when he was four years old due to an illness. There, the doctors discovered that his chest had infected with the germ and had advised them to implant a pacemaker in his chest. When he was seven years old, his parents had taken the necessary steps to implant a pacemaker in his chest.

Other than that, he had no illnesses, but the pacemaker had to transfer every ten years, last time it had transferred in the year 2022. He is a physical science final-year student at the Colombo campus, and he is also pursuing an IT degree at SLIIT.

My friend works at Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation; yesterday morning, when she was getting ready to leave for work, her son had become ill. He had mentioned that he had trouble breathing. My friend described it looks like a seizure. But he had back to normal within five minutes. When she tried to accompany her son to the doctor, he refused it, saying that it was not necessary to consult a doctor because everything was fine now. After searching the internet, that boy had mentioned his mother not to worry about that as it is a normal thing.

Later, my friend had gone to her office and requested her son to come there to meet a doctor. But, on the way, she got a call from his husband, who told her that he had gotten that fit condition again and had become unconscious and that they were accompanying him to the Gampaha Hospital. She had dropped off her staff bus and dashed to the hospital. Unfortunately, the son had died by the time she had arrived there.

She has three sons, and this one was the second son. He had gotten his primary education from St. Joseph College and later joined Royal College for Advance Level.

His life could have been saved if he had gone to the doctor at the first sign of the disease rather than using the internet to diagnose it. Everything happens according to the life that brought. However, a precious young life has been lost. I was astounded to see how his mother bear his son’s desertion.
