Trainspotting 2 | Personal Opinion.

in #film7 years ago (edited)

There are sequels that are not expected but when they arrive they are a gift from the cinema. Directed by Danny Boyle, written by John Hodge, Irvine Welsh (novel) starring Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, Trainspotting 2 bring together all the main pieces of the first movie.

20 years later Mark Renton, under certain circumstances, finds himself in need of returning to Edinburgh and there he is meet again with his old friends, this will give way to a series of events in their lives in which the history of Trainspotting 2 is marked. Unlike the first film, this delivery lacks a narrator. In a way this gives a significant change to how the plot feels, because Renton does not talk to the viewer and does not tell him how he feels or sees the events, but this can be successful since the present is lived the same that the protagonists and Renton does not influence the opinion of the audience. Besides that a reflection maturity or change of the characters in the movie.

Boyle at the beginning of the plot shows the current life of each of the characters which allows him to know part of his attitude and what kind of life they led and who they are now. As for the music here may be opinions found, if you hear alone you can say that does not reach the quality of T1 that transported the viewer on a rollercoaster of emotions, but when you hear in the movie has the correct synergy with the scenes that live the characters, which seems to have been a correct musical selection.

Sometimes the movie it is judged from the feelings and not from the reasoning, this influences when evaluating a movie, maybe some are more romantic and expect happy endings, but the story that tells us Trainspotting 2 is very attached to reality. Why? Every decision you make in your life has a consequence for you, your family, your friends or the people around you. This is one of the keys of the film, we see how Boyle is attached to the reality of the world and does not let himself be taken to give the viewer what he wants to see. We live in a hard world and this the characters have learned over time.

In general something beautiful that has this film are the visual tracks, memories of the first movie if you are attentive to them you can find them, flashbacks, comparisons of past scenes, in addition to the relevant conversations that are a criticism and reflection to the current society . These conversations could be the most important, because it reveals the ideals of the characters and how they changed or not over time, also allows you to enter into mind and understand the why of their decisions.

Regarding the argument, it may feel that I lack strength, to reinforce why some of the decisions of the characters, I think that those simple details make it appear that I lack a link in the chain, but if you look beyond Is well known to our protagonists and the type of people who are still and who could make decisions without the need to have much motivation. In fact as mentioned before the level of maturity of this film is much above the first, which triggered more adrenaline in us and made us feel more satisfied.

It highlights photography and the use of colors that Boyle does as usual, as well as those scenes out of reality, the landscapes of Edinburgh and especially the performance of Ewen Bremner as Spud, I am really surprised how this character to Despite the years remained the same, which is a challenge for the actor to play a role at the same level or higher than the original. To finish if after seeing the movie feel like something is missing, I think Danny Boyle achieved what he wanted, this is a story where having connected again with Renton, Sick Boy and Spud want something better for them and you get to feel a feeling Of despair and nostalgia, if it was so I believe that Trainspotting 2 achieved its purpose. The Trainspotting 2 is a movie that is worth seeing more than once, perhaps the sequel is not better than the first for obvious reasons but if it is a great movie that we should thank.

I was very pleased with this film. I'm usually hesitant with sequels, especially with this one as the original is one of my favorites. Sequels usually suffer from too many callbacks to the original, yet all of the callbacks in this one were used perfectly to show how the characters have or haven't changed. Looking forward to watching it again once it's out in stores.

Hello ricksandmann thanks for commenting and sorry for the delay. A sequel will always suffer if the first movie was good since it will have to compete with it. I hope you can see it soon.
