Saturday #monomad: Freedom Hill
At the top of the hill is dominated by a monument, the work of sculptor Janez Lenassi and architect Ziva Baraga. In my home town, Ilirska Bistrica, Slovenia. A monument is built 1965, to honor fallen combatants in the Second World War. A nearly eight-meter high monument has a buried tomb.

The sculpture is also a part of MoMA's exhibition Towards a concrete utopia, on view from 15 July 2018 to 13 January 2019.

Thank you. Yes, there's a lot of history in my hometown. There's always been border from ancient history (between Roman Empire and provinces) up to the modern world (west and east Europe)...
The sculptures - monuments of that period are absolutely impressive, beautiful, very SyFy looking even by today's standards ... great design and stylizations ... and these black and white shots convey that aesthetics and atmosphere perfectly ...
Yes, I agree. The government spent a lot of sources, including the art, to try to make better humans...but as always, the project not succeed...
:) at least these cool looking shapes are still here
That's right. They are impressive witnesses of a period that has never been clarified in our country.
