- The Soviet government officially announces the assassination of the tsarist family on July 16 in Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk.
- Admiral Paul von Hintze, new State Secretary of Foreign Affairs, sends a message of thanks to the German-Irish Society for congratulating him on his appointment as successor to Richard von Kuhlmann. Hintze emphasizes that the German Reich supports the independence aspirations of the Irish people.
- The council of the Upper Bavarian community Oberammergau announces that the next Passion plays will take place at the earliest in 1920, if the political conditions allow it.
