Cathedral of Christ the Saviour Looks Beautiful in the Moscow Sun
Though I took this photo from the banks of the Moscow River, the main entrance to the church lies on Volkhonka, one of the oldest streets in Russia's capital. The Cathedral is the biggest orthodox church in the world, and was originally built in the 19th century to commemorate Russian victory over Napoleonic France. However, it was later destroyed during the soviet period on Stalin's order. It was rebuilt in the 1990s and sits on the bank of the Moscow River, a few hundred yards away from the Kremlin. After a long winter in Russia, spring has finally arrived and I can't get enough of the sun! Victoria and I had just spent a few hours admiring walking along the river, enjoying some of the cities favourite parks and monuments. It was a lovely afternoon and I plan to upload photos from inside in the near future.
