My "Bitcoins and Gravy" Podcast Interview
So, Facebook just reminded me that this is the three year anniversary of my "Bitcoins and Gravy" podcast interview discussing bitcoin and my formal written comments to the (then) proposed New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) cryptocurrency regulations. As bitcoin is hitting new all time highs, I'm pretty pleased with how that interview has withstood the test of time. You can listen to that intereview here: https://letstalkbitcoin.com/blog/post/bitcoins-and-gravy-episode-28-sean-king-of-we-five-kings-the-bitcoin-car-giveaway
While the NYDFS ultimately revised the proposed regulations substantially, even their new regulations are overly broad and still run afoul the Constitution's Commerce Clause. The only thing that keeps this fact from being obvious is the fact that most people (and especially most regulators) still conceive of bitcoin as a currency (and states have clear authority to regulate money transfer) rather than as something much, much broader in scope (which states don't have authority to regulate).
You can read my formal comments to the NYDFS (which are still very relevant to state attempts to regulate cryptocurrencies) here: http://wefivekingsblog.blogspot.com/2014/07/here-are-my-official-comments-on-new.html
And you can find a tl;dr version of those comments (as well as some responses to critics) here: http://wefivekingsblog.blogspot.com/2014/07/a-follow-up-to-my-official-comments-on.html

Hello my Sean. I would like to know why you came on my blog and downvoted all my posts? :( I came on yours to upvote, because I really liked you and were following you. I'm sad. :,(
Hi friend. I'm grateful for the up vote. I'm not a fan of people randomly posting other people's Internet porn here on Steemit. IMHO it adds no value to the Steemit ecosystem and even detracts value from. People who want to find Internet porn can do that easily enough with Google or Bing.
Yes you're totally right. I didn't think much about it at first... Now, I deleted all the pictures and gif that were not copyright free. I'm new to Steemit, and didn't take that in consideration, I was seeing the platform like thumblr or something like this. But your downvotes made me think, and I will try to create some original content. Thank you for making me realizing it. And I didn't have fun just taking random porn on internet and putting it on steemit. Now I have much more fun trying to "create" things. I will work on it.
Thank you for the feedback. <3
Our government today has absolutely no respect or regard for the Constitution. They've proven that time and time again and it goes back decades. I see social security as an unconstitutional program which I shouldn't be forced to pay into just because I have a job. But I still get robbed of 12.4% of what is rightfully mine every year and I don't plan on the program paying out nearly as much as I've put in (if anything at all).
As far as the bureaucrats are concerned...I have no doubt that the government will make trading and investing in crypto currency as much of a tax liability /headache in terms of filing burden as it is for trading stocks, commodities, currency, or whatever. And since it's a relatively new thing the laws will be unclear and even the stinking IRS won't be able to make up its mind on how we should claim any gains from the crypto market.
Congratulations @sean-king! You have completed some achievement on Steemit and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :
