Many years ago my mother read a book about the four basic temperaments. I was just a teenager, but I think I read the book too, at her urging. It didn't make much sense to me. I remember the word sanguine, which sounded like a ballroom dance, and the word choleric, which sounded like a disease. Then, when my children were young, I read another book about the four basic temperaments, and this one made sense! The author used animals to represent each kind of temperament, which created an instant mental picture for me: Lion (likes to be in charge), Beaver (detail-oriented organizer kind of person), Golden Retriever (likes everybody to be happy, and assumes everyone loves them), and Otter (a party waiting to happen). I have taken several personality inventories over the years, and no matter which one it is, and what terminology is used to define the results, I always end up an even mix of Golden Retriever and Otter, with just a smidgen of Beaver tossed in. No Lion whatsoever. It's useful to know that about myself; it explains a lot. I really am a goofball, and I like people around me to be happy. But I've learned that can be hazardous to me if I don't exercise some moderation. I've had to learn to not ignore my own need for happiness while trying to keep everyone else happy.

I giggled at your descriptions of sanguine and choleric. I recall reading something in the 70s, too. I guess I am a lion and a little Golden Retriever. Jeff is Golden Retriever and Otter (I read your post to him over breakfast at Eat 'N Park) ❤

Glad you enjoyed my little tale! I am delighted to hear it was actually read aloud to someone. I now feel as if a landmark of some kind has been reached. Hee hee.

Hello! at university in a psychology class they told us about that topic. It's interesting when we discover why we are the way we are or at least what the name has that way of being. Of all this that you discovered the most difficult thing is precisely that, DO NOT forget that you have the right to be happy too and to make you happy. Why not?

Yes, that was an important lesson to learn. I wish I had figured it out earlier in my life than I did.

What's the tittle of the boom, I'll like to read it.

Do have a wonderful weekend and a glorious Sunday.

I didn't mention the author or title of the book because I couldn't remember it! But since you asked, I did some searching and found that info for you. The book is actually a children's book, called "The Treasure Tree," by John Trent.
