SAVE A LIFE IN SUBSTANCE ABUSE - A LUCID DREAM

in #health7 years ago (edited)

You’ve may heard people say, “face the music.” yet, we fail to question how difficult it is for a substance-abuse person who is struggling especially when it comes to drug abuse. It is a easy to finger point. It is a easy to blame. It is difficult for some to have compassion. Please help support this film. All cryptocurrency will be channelled into the film budget.

The Story:
LUCID The Short Film follows a day in the life of Adrian. Who also on this very day, has reached his 90th day of sobriety. The occasion is no cause to celebrate for Adrian however, who awakens on this day from yet another sleepless night. A recent transgression has led Adrian into a state of constant paranoia and self doubt now infecting both his reality and his dreams. Also a rapper and artist, Adrian can feel his life-long goal of making it big slip through his fingers.

At the center of Adrian’s recent recovery and everyday life is Nadia. Adrian’s “ride or die” and girlfriend for the past five years. Her loyalty through Adrian’s ups and downs, truly a testament to her love for him.

Complications arise when Adrian decides to contact Kyle, his best friend and former road dog; but also a potential threat to Adrian’s sobriety. With the consequence of an ill advised decision consuming his thoughts, Adrian embarks on a nights journey of which will have a long term effect to everything he holds dear. Soon he learns, that every moment and ultimately every fate can be determined by the smallest of choices.

Why Dream?
Like the film, the LUCID team is looking to make their own "lucid" dream come true. A common passion for the script and story, we feel magical energy surrounding this project. It is important for us to bring to life a relatable story told through the perspective of a mostly Latino-American cast and crew. Also being addressed are important issues in our modern society including:

Addiction
Modern Day Millennial Relationship
Technology and it's effects on daily life
We are looking to combine a great story with a shooting style that will suck the audience in and not let them go until the credits roll. With a complex plot and several relatable characters this film promises to be entertaining and enlightening. But we need your help to do it!

I am one of the people on the project. To be honest we have to pay the actors. Some of us on the project are having to forgo our wages.

We are getting close to this project.

Why I care about this project! Substance abuse can destroy lives alcohol, drugs, and other addictions. I care about this project because in the 70's a family member was institutionalized from Angel Dust. He as been in an institution ever since. This project is personal to me. It is also personal to the cast and crew working on it. This film has the potential to be used as substance abuse re-education for the state of New York. I have talked to organizations in Albany for the cause.

You’ve may heard people say, “face the music.” yet, we fail to question how difficult it is for a substance-abuse person who is struggling especially when it comes to drug abuse. It is a easy to finger point. It is a easy to blame. It is difficult for some to have compassion.

When drugs is ruining your life, you have to own up to the facts: You have slid down hill in life. Can you climb back up with a little support?

Please help this dream come true in becoming a substance abuse re-education film. We want to make a difference. The people on the project must still rely on the $ for the project. We need wardrobe, transportation, and even food on set. We need to pay the actors. Please help this film as you are contributing to the substance abuse fight. It is a very humbling experience when you have an addiction. Cited by Spark statistics of NYC. These are actual statistics of NY substance abuse. We want to part of that education and discussion for substance abuse centers. Please help.

Please up-vote. Please re-steem. Please help those in addiction with this film. We plan on using it for Substance abuse re-education. Most of us have personal stake in the film. Mainly my uncle. If I have to forgo salary for the film I will, yet it would be nice to just make due for the time and resources. We are hoping to break more than even every so slightly.

The Impact
Aside from helping us bring to life the visuals of what we feel a beautiful and strong story here also some of things this film will have a strong impact on:

Increase awareness and education surrounding drug abuse and addiction through an artistic platform.
Be part of the continued rise of some of NYC's rising on and off screen Latino talent including actor and writer Samuel Gomez, Director and filmmaker Adam Gonzalez, Actress and Producer Wilma Rivera
Contribute a donation to the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence

Some content cited from our Indiegogo. I figure I would give this a shot. Right now we barely have enough for the actors. Please help us all funds will be transferred to the cause.
