Quick Hit - Diving with the Emerald Princess
Art is something everyone has an opinion on. You love it or hate it. For me all are from music to imagery to sculpture has always left an indelible impression on me.
Seeing art underwater is something that I truly love.
The world famous Emerald Princess was lowered into the waters near Powell River on March 16th, 1989.
It is a 575-pound, nine-foot tall bronze mermaid statue that now sits 60 feet below the surface in Saltery Bay Provincial Park. It is the creation of local sculptor Simon Morris.
Thanks for reading and I will be writing a full trip report shortly.

wonderful work have my upvote, resteem and my comment @scottdphoto
I would often stay at the Beach Gardens Resort in Powell River. My old diving buddy and fellow SCUBA instructor Jim Willoughby was very involved with getting this sculpture underwater and we spent many hours diving around Powell River.
Very original to place the sculptures underwater. I think the creation of the sculptor take on new meaning. Great photo and post.
