Is this Cartoon Racist?
This past week there was a huge tantrum thrown at the US Open and the behaviour of said famous tennis player was pretty disgraceful.
Fast forward a few days and an Australian paper released the cartoon pictured above depicting the tantrum.
The question has arisen..... Is this Cartoon racist?
My opinion is is probably depends on the eye of the beholder, however, I don't think it was intended to be racist at all.
The reasons for it being a racist cartoon that have come our of the US don't really apply in Australia as we have never had exposure to the African American history or Sambo type cartoons that people have been referring to.
Ok, a little more common sense and sensitivity should have been shown by the artist and the newspaper, but I believe that all the hype around this being a deliberately racist cartoon has been blown up by the media and this was never the intention.

I never understood why the referee did not ask to show that picture again of the coach making the 2 handed coaching gestures. Serena may not have seen it. Anyway it is America first and Australia will be sanctioned soon!
