Happy Bitcoin Pizza Day? What the heck is that I hear you ask?

Today, eight years ago, Laszlo Hanyecz bought two pizzas for 10,000 Bitcoin.

On May 22, 2010 Laszlo Hanyecz agreed to pay 10,000 Bitcoins for two delivered Papa John's pizzas. He reached out on a bitcointalk forum for help.

"I'll pay 10,000 bitcoins for a couple of pizzas.. like maybe 2 large ones so I have some left over for the next day," Hanyecz wrote.

A British man took up Hanyecz's offer and bought the two pizzas for him in exchange for the 10,000 Bitcoins. He payed $25 for the pizzas, while 10,000 Bitcoins were worth around $41 at the time.

At todays's value, that would be now worth US $85 million! Now that is some expensive pizza!

Tonight I am going to order a big cheese pepperoni.

Crazy to think that things have come so far in such a relatively short amount of time. I wonder if the guy that took the bitcoin in return still has them. Does it say how long he held onto them if he did get rid of them? Bet he is kicking himself now if he did.
