Pet Friendly Holiday Climbing.

This weekend we headed out to Glastonbury State Forest about 21 km north-west of Gympie. Turn left into Petersen Road at Bells Bridge. There are three major draw cards for going here: one we could take the dog; two we could go climbing and three camping is on the creek. Shadow (our dog) loved the water. I spent most the time getting him and the two boys out of the water. Another great clean spot, we seem to be blessed with beauty all around.

This is another place that needs to be booked online before arriving. Honesty boxes seem to be a thing of the past. But the price charged is nothing compared to what you receive. Yes, it's nature it should be free, but if this was the case how would we get there with no roads and who would keep it clean.

Climbing was a big draw card for me. I absolutely love the terracotta worrier route. It is a medium level climb up with overhang at the end of the pillar, Four UBs, lower-off and nearly all routes have permanent anchors so this means less gear to carry. There are walking tracks that go up and down the side, so you can abseil down and walk back up if climbing is not for you.

Although I did manage to lose a carabiner with five climbing nut anchors on it, so that was an expensive days climb. So if you find them here they are mine.

I wasn't the only one who had loses, my mate jagged his pants and tore a patch out. We all had to watch his bare bum the whole day.

There are loads of grassy spots to pitch a tent, have a fire and relax. There are taps scattered throughout the grassy area of the camping ground but these are not drinkable (non drinking water).

Point Pure Lookout is a short drive from the campground. This is where you will start your climbing adventure and see some stunning views.
