Antonov AN-225-Mrija Development for FlightGear

Introduction

FlightGear (http://www.flightgear.org) is an open source flight simulator that is even used in flight schools to train basic maneuvers, radio communication and navigation tasks. It is available for windows, mac and linux.

In this article I want to introduce my development of Antonov AN-225-Mrija.

• Max take off weight is: 1,322,773 lb = 600.000 kg

Development steps

• In 2015 I started to improve the very basic model from the official FlightGear, since then about 140 commits are done.
• New model name AN-225-Mrija, means dream in Russian.
• FDM (Flight Dynamic Model) work to get realistic behavior.
• Full Instrumentation in the cockpit with more then 180 instruments, lamps and switches.
• Lots of Animations like shuttle and different train transport, ground effects, ambient lightning, doors, stairs, smoke for reverse and normal thrust, runway effects.
• All functions are Multiplayer compatible and transferred over the network.
• Autopilot programming.
• Nasal programming for engine start up and lots of systems and instruments
• Video production with one flight uploaded on Youtube and documented on Steemit.
• Latest update are some improvements for more realism of engine smoke, new splash screen and some text changes.
