ROCKBAND

Who here remembers the video game ROCKBAND?

Well, I certainly do!

The U.S. TOUR

In the months leading up to releasing the first version of ROCKBAND, me and three other gents traveled the country visiting nearly every major division one college.

In tow was a 53 foot trailer filled with concert equipment that opened up to become a stage.

And we rocked that stage in a new city every weekend!

To quote Bon Jovi - "I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all!"
OK OK, it was more like 10,000 faces and I hope the people atleast had some fun!

What I Came to Realize:

-Apparently Video Games had become cool!
-Video Game Groupies now existed!

The last sentence still blows my mind. Girls did not play videogames when I was a kid. Especially not very attractive girls....what planet was I on???

Power of a stage and a microphone

I was the MC for the events. I'd kick off the event, work the crowd. Try and get everyone amped up for the game. Then me and the crew would rock out a song to kick off the event before we let the "fans" come up and try and be rockstars of their own!

Being on a stage with a microphone in hand when music is involved apparently makes you 10 times more attractive. Out of all the looks I have had over the years the one I rocked (no pun intended) during the rockband tour was likely my worst.

Yet, it was probably the friendliest the female gender ever was to me. (Crap, now I'm getting nostalgic and an bit lonely..lol)

I’m not going to get into crazy detail, but will say I basically got to relive college (and got paid to do it). Probably the coolest job I ever had. That goodness I was still in my 20’s during that tour, I might have died otherwise.

Much to my dismay, the below clip is the only video I have of the tour. Its me TRYING (the key word) on vocals to rock out a song with three random dudes that never played before. Pretty sure someone even hit pause mid-song...lol.

Took place at the E4 all event at the L.A. Convention Center.
