Grand Canyon High Relief Fine Silver... also a Trip to the Hoover Dam

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

After leaving Zion National Park we headed south and veered back east a bit so the kids could experience the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam before doing Vegas:

This has been one of my favorite national parks since I first went back in the 90s. The first time I went it was snowing.

These guys were troopers. For some of their photo ops they were cranky, but they did well considering the heat on this day.

I always take the shuttle to the last stop... Hermit's Rest. This next pic is from one of the many stops along the way.

On the way out we saw this hungry li'l fella... BIG fella.

Quick Photo Op at Hoover Dam. It was FREAKIN hot and my boy was downright mad to be made to stand out in the searing sun...

You used to have to drive over the dam and traffic could get pretty bad. As a tourist I never minded. But now there's a bypass. We took this pic the previous year when I took Mrs SbsParts to Vegas for her birthday.

yeah, we took it from a helicopter, but that's another story

It's illegal to fly beneath the Canyon Rim... but in the Hualapai Nation it's allowed ;-)

After leaving the Dam, we stopped in Boulder City... Picked up Lunch at the Chicken Shack and ate it at Hemenway Park

Where you can incidentally watch BigHorn Sheep that come down from the mountains to enjoy the green grass and shade

Well... that's gonna do it. Next post we'll be in Pit Bullion's backyard. Las Vegas!

What could be better: family, a beautiful place and a wonderful 2oz coin?

Well said, my friend. Thank you!

The Grand Canyon is one of the AWESOMEST place I've been to. When I went there the first time (of course I needed to go back the second time), it made my faith stronger than anything... in the greatness and grandeur of the Almighty... all of these are just a glimpse of His greatness, grandeur, beauty, goodness......

I completely agree... It was quite a spiritual experience on a couple of my previous visits( when I went with my nephew as he was becoming a man and when I went with my ex-wife). Not as much with kids... the noise and having to watch them so closely kind of ruins the peace for me, hehe.

And music, especially the classics.... my gosh. Listening to beautiful music stirs my soul!

Another great trip sbs !!!!!

You should come with us on one of them, hehe...

OMG its cool

That's a wicked cool round! The canyon is pretty cool too :P

Thx buddy. Preeshiate you checking out my posts.
You know... if you want my 2 cents..... you got 'em ;-)

I’m hoping to take the boys to the Grand Canyon in the future! I think the Griswalds visited it once! Lol👍🏼🍺🥓

Yeah man... Grand Canyon and Giant Redwoods are places you HAVE to see before you die (when it comes to bucket lists IMO the trees are higher on the list)

Cool coin, great photos & the vacation excellence continues! 😀 What great experiences/memories you are having/making with your family. You are making me want to hop in the car and drive.

It's almost that time of year again. We spent so much time on the road last year I swore we'd stay home this year... but maybe just a one week getaway to visit some family this summer would be cool ;-)

Thanks for enjoying my posts 👍🏼🦍😎😘
